First Day Of Fall

September is an exciting time of year. Kids are starting back to school, the weather is cooling down, and winter is on its way. This is the perfect time to start preparing your yard for next year. There are many things you can do to set up your garden for spring. Some gardening tasks to look at in September are:

  1. Pull weeds from your garden and lawn-this will help to reduce the number of weeds next year

  2. Add compost or manure to your garden beds

  3. Plant spring bulbs, trees, and shrubs. They need six weeks before the first frost

  4. Fertilize your lawn

  5. Collect any seeds or herbs for drying

  6. Clean bird feeders, and gardening tools

  7. Continue to water new trees and shrubs until the ground freezes over

  8. Clean and either cover or store lawn and patio furniture

Doing these tasks now can help to set you up for a beautiful spring garden. For more tips for fall gardening visit: https://landscapeontario.com/fall-gardening-checklist
